I Did Reboot And I Got The T-shirt!

For those of you who know nothing about REBOOT Camp, it is a week-long nutrition bootcamp run by Frame Dance & Fitness Studio involving a nutrition workshop, 2 day juice cleanse, 2 hour yoga workshop and 5 Frame classes.

After the best summer we’ve had in decades I’m sure I wasn’t alone in indulging in a few too many ice-creams, BBQ’s and mid-week (every night) drinks. So I felt my body had reached saturation point! I craved to get back to my routine of leaving the booze for the weekend, eating a bit more consciously and regular Frame classes

As the weather had taken a distinct turn for the worse I felt like there was no time like the present to take a step back, recharge, regenerate and re-educate my body and mind before the new season ahead. We began on Friday with our nutrition workshop with the lovely Libby Limon. There were 12 of us in the group and each of us took turns to briefly describe why we were there and what we hoped to gain from the experience. I was glad to see that no one saw it as a quick fix weight loss exercise but more a way to restart, to break certain negative cycles such as sugar or caffeine dependency and to create a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Libby explained how the week would work, with the help of the ‘REBOOT Bible’ and answered any questions we had.

Reboot Survival Kit

We were given an awesome little ‘Survival Kit’ containing a Sweaty Betty top (in fluro coral – they read my mind!), some delicious CO-YO yogurt, luxurious REN skincare products, Pulsin’ protein bars, chia seeds and nutri-advanced supplements. This was certainly a good start to the week of fabulousness! Now it was time to get our juices. I’m not going to lie, weekends for me are a lot about food, drink and socialising so the thought of a liquid diet (non-alcoholic) wasn’t exactly filling me with joy. Mentally though I had reserved this time for self-indulgence of the nourishing kind and I wasn’t going to let hunger get the better of me!

Thankfully I found the four juices we had a day delicious. Breakfast was a refuelling smoothie, the addition of oats, coconut yogurt and banana meant it felt like a proper meal and I wasn’t left feeling hungry. Libby had explained that the hunger would most likely come in waves around ‘normal’ meal or snack times, it would peak and then subside.

Reboot Juice Cleanse

Day one of the cleanse and we had a Restorative Yoga workshop with Libby to look forward to. Before the workshop we had our pre-workout Energizer juice. Containing apple, carrot, ginger and beetroot this was the perfect pick-me-up before class. Our ‘Reboot Bible’ explained how this combination of juices would aid cleansing, build stamina and aid recover after exercise.

I was a bit apprehensive about the workshop as I felt fairly low on energy by 3pm. The American Apparel factory outlet had worked wonders on taking my mind of the hunger but had left me (and my credit card) feeling slightly drained. Libby however ensured it was a gentle practice and the two hours flew by, I actually fell asleep during the meditation stage. For someone who is generally so tense and buzzing they find it impossible to sleep more than 7 hours a night this was an absolute first!

Post workshop came our cold pressed juice, this delicious savoury juice made a welcome change from the sweeter ones. I love red chilli and the slightly spicy flavour energised me for the rest of the day. The nourishing green smoothie was most welcome for dinner, the avocado meant it was a bit more substantial than the juices we’d had in the day leaving me able to drift off into the longest sleep I’ve had all year….

Electrolyte Juice

I had ambitions of getting up and heading to a Frame class on Sunday but even after my breakfast smoothie I didn’t really fancy it. The driving rain outside wasn’t exactly conducive to getting on my bike either! Normally I would be going out my tiny mind at the prospect of doing nothing all day (I’m starting to realise I’m not a very relaxed person!) but actually this felt great. Being cosy, watching films and reading the papers was the perfect lazy Sunday I needed. I can honestly say I haven’t felt so relaxed in London ever! It normally takes two weeks on the beach to get me to that state.

By Monday I was feeling pretty good, relaxed and refuelled and ready for the working week. I was really looking forward to trying out some of the delicious recipes in the REBOOT Bible and getting my ass down to some classes I’d never tried before. I booked in for Vibe, Rebounding, Frame WORK, Frame METHOD and Yoga.

Rebounding

I loved Vibe, I really felt this worked to trim me down and tone me up quickly which is way more than I imagined from a 30 minute class. Rebounding was 45 minutes of high-energy fun on a trampoline and I felt absolutely amazing afterwards. Breaking up the week with a gentle yoga class really helped to stretch out my poor aching muscles. Finishing the week with the Frame Signature classes really helped me tone and condition.

I found the menu plans and recipes really helped me think about what I was eating. I found it easier to make breakfast and dinner at home and get lunch from some of the suggested take-out options such as Pod, Leon or Itsu. Some of my favourite recipes included veggie Thai curry, Haloumi skewers and smoked tofu noodles.

Two months on and I definitely feel like the positive changes I made have stuck. I reintroduced meat (and alcohol) back into my diet but it’s much more in moderation. I still cook loads of the recipes regularly and often start the day with a delicious breakfast smoothie – which is also great post-workout. I get to Frame between three and five times a week, shaking up my exercise routine has helped me get beyond that fitness plateau and also opened my eyes to the plethora of amazing Frame classes on the timetable.

I would definitely recommend REBOOT to a friend, in fact I made fellow Girly-Guider Zoe do it with me, this made it so much easier to avoid temptation and plan meals and work-outs. We both found the daily emails and on-tap advice from Libby made all the difference. It gave that personal touch we expect from Frame. Zoe has also managed to cut out both caffeine and cigarettes so REBOOT was truly life changing for her.

If you want to change your life or maybe just try and get into a healthier routine before the madness of party season begins then give REBOOT Bootcamp a try! The next session begins this Friday 8th November. Click here to book!
